6. Google API Services User Data — Infoway API for Google Sheets™

The Infoway API for Google Sheets™ is a Google Workspace Add-on that retrieves financial market data from the Infoway API and displays it directly inside Google Sheets. This section describes how the add-on accesses, uses, stores, and shares Google user data.

Infoway's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6.1 Data Accessed

The add-on requests the following OAuth permissions from Google:

Permission (OAuth Scope)Reason Required
View and manage spreadsheets that this application has been installed in (spreadsheets.currentonly) To insert financial data formulas into the user's selected cell, and to display the add-on menu inside Google Sheets
Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars inside Google applications (script.container.ui) To render the add-on sidebar panel within Google Sheets
Connect to an external service (script.external_request) To make HTTPS requests to https://data.infoway.io/ to retrieve financial market data
View your email address (userinfo.email) Required by the Google Workspace Add-ons framework for user session identification
See your personal info, including any personal info you've made publicly available (userinfo.profile) Required by the Google Workspace Add-ons framework for user session identification

6.2 Data Usage

The add-on uses Google user data strictly as follows:

  • Spreadsheet data: The add-on only writes financial formula results into the user's currently active cell. It does not read, scan, or process any existing cell content, sheet names, or other spreadsheet data.
  • Email address and profile: These are consumed internally by the Google Workspace Add-ons runtime for session management. The add-on code does not read, transmit, display, or store this information.
  • External API requests: When a user calls an Infoway custom function (e.g., =INFOWAY_PRICE("AAPL.US")), the add-on sends the requested stock symbol and the user's Infoway API Key to https://data.infoway.io/ to fetch financial data. No Google account data (email, profile, or spreadsheet content) is transmitted to our servers.

Google user data is used only to provide the add-on's core feature — displaying financial data inside Google Sheets — and for no other purpose.

6.3 Data Sharing

Google user data is not shared, sold, rented, or disclosed to any third party.

The only external service the add-on communicates with is https://data.infoway.io/. The only data transmitted to this service is the stock symbol requested by the user and the user's own Infoway API Key. No Google account credentials or Google user data of any kind are included in these requests.

6.4 Data Storage and Protection

  • Infoway API Key: The user's Infoway API Key is stored locally using Google Apps Script's PropertiesService.getUserProperties() — a Google-managed, per-user, encrypted key-value store. This data is stored within Google's infrastructure and is never transmitted to or stored on Infoway's servers.
  • API response cache: Financial data API responses are temporarily cached using Google Apps Script's CacheService.getUserCache() (60 seconds for real-time data; 1 hour for financial statement data). This cache is fully Google-managed, user-scoped, and contains only financial market data — no Google user data.
  • Infoway servers: Our servers at data.infoway.io do not store any Google user data whatsoever.
  • All communications between the add-on and our API are encrypted using HTTPS (TLS).

6.5 Data Retention and Deletion

  • Infoway API Key: Retained in PropertiesService.getUserProperties() until the user removes it via the add-on's Settings panel ("Delete API Key" button), or until the add-on is uninstalled. Uninstalling the add-on automatically clears all user properties.
  • Cache data: Automatically expires after 60 seconds (real-time data) or 1 hour (financial data) with no action required from the user.
  • No server-side retention: Since Infoway's servers do not store any Google user data, no server-side deletion process is applicable.

To delete your Infoway API Key at any time:

  1. Open Google Sheets and go to Extensions → Infoway API → Open Panel.
  2. In the Settings tab, click Delete API Key.

7. User Rights

You may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right of rectification: Request correction of any inaccurate data.
  • Right of erasure: Request deletion of your data.

For general website visitors, these rights have limited application as we do not collect personal data. For users of the Infoway API for Google Sheets™ add-on, see Section 6.5 above for how to delete your stored API Key.

To exercise any of the above rights, please contact us at [email protected].
